Mark Chalmers is Managing Director of Uranium Equities and is a Mining Engineer whom has spent most of his career in the uranium business internationally. His most recent uranium project was the Beverley Uranium Mine in South Australia where he was Senior Vice President and General Manager until the end of 2005. During his 30 plus years in the business, Mark has been involved with over one dozen producing uranium properties and is well versed in both conventional and ISL methods of extraction, a rarity for uranium professionals.
During his arrival in Australia in 2002, he has been actively involved with both the State and Commonwealth on a host of government inquiries and reviews pertaining to uranium mining. Currently Mark is serving as Chairman of the Uranium Industry Framework Implementation Group, an initiative, put in place by Commonwealth Minister, Ian Macfarlane to advance the uranium industry in Australia at the highest possible standards. Today, Mark is here to provide an update on the UIF's activities in this regard.
